AceReader helps you break several bad habits: (1) Subvocalization (pronouncing the words in your mind while you read), and (2) Re-Reading (letting your eyes wander back and re-read text that you previously read). AceReader paces you to read at higher speeds. At these higher speeds it becomes physically impossible to subvocalize. Because AceReader displays text by flashing word sets, you will be forced to read ahead and will not have the opportunity to re-read.

Technologies Used:

AceReader utilizes two technologies: (1) RAPID SERIAL VISUAL PRESENTATION (RSVP), and (2) TACHISTOSCOPIC SCROLL PRESENTATION (TSP). When AceReader is in RSVP mode, text is displayed in the center of the text area. RSVP can be used to read faster than normal because your eyes do not need to move. In RSVP mode, the words come to your eyes instead of your eyes going to the words. When AceReader is in TSP mode, text is displayed in a manner that forces the reader's eyes to move just like they do in normal reading. TSP can be used to train the reader to read in a normal fashion at higher speeds. Both modes can help you learn to take in multiple words at a time.

How AceReader is Used:

• As a Productivity Tool - Read faster while on your computer by reading in RSVP Mode (Center Text Mode). AceReader can be used to rapidly read and skim text found in documents and your clipboard. Using the clipboard allows for reading text from other applications like your favorite word processor and text from the Internet (i.e. web pages, email, news groups…).
• As a Self-Improvement Educational Tool - Learn to read faster both on and off your computer by practicing to read in Tachistoscopic Scroll Mode (Eye Trainer Scroll Mode) at configurable speed settings. Track your progress by taking the reading/comprehension tests that are broken out by grade levels. By practicing to read with AceReader and using the higher speeds, it is possible to break the habit of pronouncing each word in your mind which leads to better reading skills in general. Once you break the habit of pronouncing each word in your mind you will find yourself increasing the speed setting to higher and higher speeds. Read at 2X, 3X or even faster using this program. The more you practice the better you will get.
