BoardGameGeek

Whether you've been nostalgically looking for the original version of 'Amazing Spider-Man' or are just a genuine board game geek, this site will happily meet your needs. Die-hard gamers from everywhere convene here to buy, swap, sell and search for their favorite board games.

The site's index includes the most archaic of games, brand new sensations such as 'Lord of the Rings', and everything played on a board in between (don't forget about Ad-Libs!). Visitors can search for a specific game, get strategic advice from fellow gamers, and even post their own collections for sale.

Midnight Ramble

Midnight Ramble is an historic site that honors the many African-American actors that worked in the first half of the century. Battling racism and social stereotype, Black actors were first ignored, then forced into 'B Film' or 'Race Movies', lesser genres that briefly flourished between the 1920's and 1940's.

Visitors can view film images from this period and read about the many groundbreaking moments that, so symbolically, moved Hollywood out of the 'black and white' era and into the wonderfully colorful experience that it is today. While it is shocking to see the stark racism that dominated the silver screen for so long, it is a testament to the struggle and talents of so many Black actors and paved the way for performers of all minorities working today.

Lewis & Clark

The Bicentennial of the legendary Lewis and Clark Expedition has given the Sierra Club a great excuse to create this amazing online experience. 'In the Footsteps of Lewis & Clark' is truly awe-inspiring, an interactive tribute to one of our nations most famous journeys taken by two of its most courageous citizens.

Visitors should skip nothing along this tour. You can read from the actual journals of these two famed explorers, or sign up for an outing with the Sierra Club and take a modern version of their trip into the actual lands and waters of the original Expedition. Don't miss the section entitled 'Then and Now', to see the sharp contrast between the land Lewis and Clark once walked and American as it is today.

National Anthems of the World

Popular amongst students and tourists alike, this site will familiarize you with the national songs of countries all around the world (and your own if you happened to forget it). While there is a small subscription fee of $1.50, can you really put a price on surprising your Eastern European girlfriend by serenading her with the Czech national anthem in its entirety?

Abandoned Farms

Every artist has a muse, a source of inspiration, a unique focus for his or her passion. Photographer Nokkvi Eliasson, a native of Iceland, is inspired by deserted farms. Look through over ninety of Nokkvi's hauntingly beautiful black and white images of abandoned barns and farmlands.

Fashion Online

If only there were somewhere you could go to see the most beautiful and glamorous people in the world, without leaving your home or paying eighteen dollars for a beer. At Models.com, fashionistas, aspiring models and curious 'outsiders' can catch a glimpse into the mysterious world of fashion.

Aspiring beauties can research different modeling agencies and even submit photos that will be viewed by New York agents. Or if you just feel like looking at pretty faces for a while, check out the 'Top 50 Models', a regularly updated listing of the top working male and female models in the industry today. There are also sections about fashion photographers, designers, and the latest runway gossip straight from Paris and Milan.

Wolfman Jack Online Museum

The official website devoted to the living memory of the late disc jockey Wolfman Jack! This 'Online Museum' is a non-profit organization that aims to preserve the legacy of the life and career of the great DJ for his many fans to continue to enjoy.

Fans of the Wolfman will find endless entertainment listening to old recordings of the original 'rock n' roll animal', reading articles and looking through the extensive Photo Gallery. Don't skip over 'The Mars Corner', an annual column written by the Wolfman's ex-writer and close friend Mars Cotolo that offers an insiders view into the glory days of Wolfman Jack's radio broadcasts.

Bizarre and Imaginative Japanese TV Clips

Much of what can be said about this site is either beyond words or entirely in Japanese. The good news is that viewers need not worry about words to enjoy the selection of offbeat and absurd clips from Japan's wide world of television.

These clips from the Nippon Television Network use black background and other inventive 'elements' to create a cool, illusory viewing experience. Entry #69, 'The Ping-Pong Match', is a great example of this.

Red Star Radiosite

The Red Star Site is a 'Soviet Antique Radio Gallery' that pays tribute to the history of the Radio industry in the Soviet Union. The site's founder is a collector of these Russian receivers and the grandson of a Russian journalist. Although these radios are now mere remnants of the fallen Soviet Union, they played a crucial role in linking what, for most of the 20th century, was once the largest nation in the world.

Throughout the Red Star Radiosite visitors will find evidence of a deep nostalgia for Radio culture. There are twelve 'rooms', each catering to a specific decade or element of Soviet audio history (gramophones, record players, broadcasting receivers, etc.) Start in the Infocenter, where you can read a letter from the editor and in which you will find extensive information on different models, manuals for restoration, schematics and old radios for sale or trade.
