Earth From Above

You don't have to have wings to see what the world looks like from above. Thanks to this amazing site, you can get a "bird's eye view" of some of the most stunning sites on Earth.

Visitors can select from almost a hundred nations around the world. After choosing a country, click on thumbnail images to see a series of sites from these wonderful foreign lands from above. The photographs provide a shockingly beautiful and original perspective on the planet.

Frogs: A Chorus of Colors

From the densest rainforests to the driest deserts, frogs live in almost every ecosystem on Earth. Thanks to this website by the American Museum of Natural History, which has one of the largest amphibian collections in the world, you can see and learn about virtually all of these astonishingly diverse and beautiful creatures.

In nature, there is a species of frog to represent every color in the rainbow, from the Blue Dart Poison Frog to the Golden Yellow Frog. The site offers in depth information on all of these colorful members of the frog species, including their habits of reproduction, defense mechanisms and lifespan.

The Face of Tomorrow

The Face of Tomorrow is a new series of work by Turkish photographer/artist Mike Mike. Every time the artist visits a new city, he photographs the first one hundred willing participants. These pictures are then combined to create one female and one male 'individual', which are meant to serve as a clairvoyant glimpse into the possible appearance of those cities' future citizens.

The entire project, from its development to its website, functions from the spirit of international exchange. His work and accompanying site explore how globalization and the modern mixing of cultures and ethnicities have impacted the 'face' of our world's cities. View the future 'faces' of Pamplona, London, Sydney, Hong Kong and many other cities that Mike Mike has visited.

Gmail Is Too Creepy

While Google's new service, Gmail, is the most popular new email account since Yahoo!, it may not be all it's cracked up to be. Despite its generous gift of 1 gig of memory to its users, according to this site Gmail may fall a bit short when it comes to personal privacy.

The Video Game Revolution

Avid gamers will love this complete history of the video game industry, courtesy of PBS. From its inception in the archaic form of the game "Naughts and Crosses" at the hands of Cambridge University engineers in 1952, the videogame has not only given birth to a massive industry but also changed the very experience of childhood, education, culture and even warfare.

There is so much to explore on this site, from the History of Gaming (a complete evolution of video games) to the Impact of Gaming (which includes essays on how these games are affecting our children's lives). Game lovers should definitely stop at The Arcade, where you can take Classic Game and Celebrity Quizzes, and even play the original incarnation of Galaga.

Asian Pacific American Toy Chest

This homemade hobby site pays tribute to toys that represent or are connected to people from Asia and/or the South Pacific. Hobbyist and site editor Loren Javier displays an interesting collection of Asian-Pacific dolls and related essays.

Visitors to this quirky website will find Asian-Pacific versions of both familiar and obscure Action, Sci-Fi and pop culture figures. Don't miss the article about the controversy surrounding the "American-Asian Barbie", as well as other cool features such the APA Top Ten list, a Toy chest community as well as other related links.

The Chronicles of George

This is a hilarious tribute from a bitter tech support employee to an inept co-worker. The Chronicles of George was created out of a mix of utter astonishment and workplace frustration, and catalogues one employee's shockingly incapable skills.

As the site's editor boasts, George is truly one of the worst employees to ever work in technical support. Despite the prejudicial nature of the site, it keeps a good-natured, light-hearted attitude while documenting the many malfunctions and mistakes of this poor sod.
