Welcome to the 343rd issue of the Cool Tricks and Trinkets Newsletter offering weekly insights into new, cool, useful, fun, unusual and interesting sites on the Internet. <Editor's Note> As some of you may know, over the past 5 years I have built my company A1 Discount Hotels, into one of Hotels.com's largest affiliates. Our commitment to customer service and simply caring for people has yielded thousands of loyal customers. In an effort to acknowledge our valued clientele, we are launching A1 Travel Club, (http://a1-travelclub.com), which will offer the lowest hotel reservation prices on the Internet. Travel Club members will receive an additional 5% rebate on all pre-paid hotel reservations. This rebate will be on top to the already low prices quoted by hotels.com. The Travel Club will be "by invitation only" and I would appreciate your support in spreading the word to your friends and family. In this issue:
-- Ferry Halim: Interactive Art This beautifully designed flash website will inspire your creative senses, test your gaming skills, and provide entertainment for hours on end. Designed by California artist Ferry Halim, it boasts the artist's considerable anime, freehand and graphic talents. Look through Ferry's portfolio to see some impressive anime works, including "Teen Titans" and "Wilt's Wash 'N Swoosh". Creative types should view the artist's stunning pencil work, while game lovers can play some of the site's original games such as "Cats" and "A Daily Cup of Tea. What Goes On: The Beatles Anomalies List The Beatles may well have made perfect music, but they didn't always play it perfectly. "What Goes On" started out as a UseNet message board twelve years ago, and has been compiling 'anomalies' in recorded Beatles songs ever since. Fans of the 'greatest band of all time' can look through the list of anomalies that John, Paul, George and Ringo occasionally made while recording their amazing music. An 'anomaly' includes flubbed lyrics or notes, mixing errors, vocal misdirection and a host of other tiny inconsistencies that are bound to happen when you are breaking musical boundaries. http://www.pootle.demon.co.uk/wgo.htm Earthlink: You Decide Internet giant Earthlink gets a little personal with its new interactive site, YouDecideOnline.com. The site features photos of actual Earthlink employees, and gives you the power to choose to reward one over the other. Before making your decision, read each one of the employee's bio's and quotes. Then you can choose whether Layne deserves a company car more than Scott, or if Bell should have an office instead of Daniel. It's a strange experiment in voyeuristic Internet power, yet a lot of fun nonetheless. If you are having difficulty choosing an Earthlink worker, get an up close look at them through their 'Workspace Cams'. http://www.youdecideonline.com SHORT TAKES The Versus Page Consider yourself warned, The Versus Page is not for the conservative web surfer. This hilarious blog hosts theoretical fights between contestants past, present and fictional. Think Raphael the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle vs. Raphael the master painter and architect! http://theversuspage.blogspot.com/

It was created by a San Francisco dog lover named Jon, who strolls the streets of Frisco taking photos of dogs who are tied up to various things such as poles, parking meters, etc. Jon posts his pictures of these cute canines, leaving them open to whimsical interpretation by the many dog-loving bloggers who visit the site. After you've checked out the pups, have a look at some of the cool postcards Jon has made and sent out to Internet pals. http://www.automatedredemption.com/flavorcountry/dogblog/ WhiteHouseTapes.org Have you ever wondered what goes on in the highly protected confines of the White House? Listen to a bit of history at this cool site, which is sponsored by the Presidential Recordings Program at the University of Virginia's Miller Center of Public Affairs. Whitehouse.Org is a free service to the public that provides access to all of the presidential recordings made between 1940 and 1973. Visitors will find it fascinating to listen in on Oval Office conversations from the administrations of Presidents Roosevelt, Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson and, of course, Nixon. http://www.whitehousetapes.org/ A Free Template: Helping Make the Web a More Beautiful Place What do you get when you combine the Web and the art of poetry? The answer is 'Woetry', a collection of poems and illustrations written by one disgruntled office worker while they were stuck in 'corporate hell'. Read through these witty 'woems', including highlights such as'A Fuhrerious Meeting' and 'A Day Off'. While these pieces may lack optimism, they make up for it with the dark humor of one employee creatively venting the frustrations of their workplace, for the rest of us to sit back and enjoy. http://www.afreetemplate.com/woetry.cfm
