In addition to learning about the diverse nations of the world, visitors will also find interesting information on prominent international organizations. Scroll through the list and read about global entities such as the Red Cross, WTO, NATO, and the African Union. The site also covers other subjects of international interest such as the Environment, Technology, and Business.

¡Azúcar! The Life and Music of Celia Cruz

The National Museum of American History, located in the nation's capital, presents this enticing exhibition on Latin singing sensation Celia Cruz. The exhibition, entitled ¡Azucar! The Life and Music of Celia Cruz, explores the six-decade career of the world famous Cuban singer.

Filled with rare photos, a biography, personal documents and other features, the exhibit's website is the next best thing to visiting the Smithsonian in Washington D.C. Reading about the Cuban singer's music, biography, energetic stage presence, as well as her flamboyant costumes makes it easy to understand how the Cuban singer earned the well-deserved title of the Queen of Salsa.

Whatever Happened to Polio?

Until Jonas Salk created a vaccine in 1955, Polio was the deadliest disease to hit the people of the United States in the 20th Century. Whatever Happened To Polio? is a temporary gallery exhibition sponsored by the Smithsonian that tells the story of this deadly virus and its impact on American culture.

The website is a virtual tour of the exhibition, which begins with the polio epidemics of the late 19th Century and ends with the approval of Mr. Salk's vaccine. It is interesting to learn the inspirational stories that came out of such a deadly epidemic, as well as the influence the disease has had on the country's medical community and public health policies. The site also has a section entitled Polio Today, which is a modern look at the disease's presence in Third World nations and the worldwide effort going on to vaccinate people.
