I loved my 1973 VW bug. It got great gas mileage, was inexpensive to repair and was essential for a tuned in, turned on and dropped out hippie. Oh the times, they are a changin!

The ad campaign for the latest incarnation of the Beetle starts out by proclaiming that "Scientists have discovered a new element and they are calling it Turbonium". This site is a fast moving, hyperactive, informative, petal to the metal ride including a multimedia preview and a "behind the scenes look" on the making of the Turbonium commercial. A preview of ad campaigns of the future.

COOL MULTIMEDIA - Turbonium

Most of us who are connected to the internet via a dial up modem have had the experience of being disconnected by our ISP if we have not been active for 10 or 15 minutes. Keep It Alive maintains your dial-up connection by refreshing a webpage every few minutes.

COOL UTLITY - Keep it alive (freeware)

Most of us have forgotten how to use the "Print Screen" button next to the F12 key on the keyboard. PrintKey allows a user to press that button and "print" the desktop or the active window. You can also configure the image and save it in a number of file formats.

COOL SCREEN CAPTURING UTILITY - Print Key (Win95/98 or NT4) (freeware)

A few weeks ago I featured the controversial software, Third Voice, which allowed users to post comments on any website, which other Third Voice users could view while visiting that site.

Much along the same lines comes "Gooey", which gives registered users a chat environment they can carry around with them on the web. It enables you to chat in real time with other gooey users who are visiting the site at the same time. Once again the world gets smaller.

HEY THERE STRANGER! - Gooey

If you've got the travel bug and exotic climes are a callin', I suggest joining Randy (a Microsoft manager) and Kim Kerr (a periatric nurse) on their 9-month spin through 20 countries. The tour features breathtaking pictures that allow for 360 degree movement within each photo. (with the IPIX plug-in) Right click on the pictures to display viewing options.

COOL ADVENTURE - Route 360

They are currently in Southeast Asia trekking through Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam. The site also features excellent travel information and resources. If you have not been to this part of the world, you will find this presentation fascinating.

Mohammad Ali, when asked about being a boxer replied, "It's just a job. Grass grows, birds fly, waves pound the sand. I just beat people up." When he won the Olympic gold medal in 1960 and someone asked what he wanted next, he said, "I want money, plenty of it!"

He called the rounds that his opponents would fall -- and was correct in 13 of 17 fights. He refused to go to Vietnam after he was drafted because he didn't want to "kill and burn poor people simply to help continue the domination of white slave masters over the darker people."

COOL BIOGRAPHY - The Prince of Heaven

A very well laid out presentation on the rise of Cassius Clay / Mohammad Ali, including significant fights and media clips of fights and interviews.

This is a wonderful site if you're looking for comprehensive financial news, analysis and advice. The audience falls primarily into two categories: active investors seeking the most up-to-date market news including the tools to assess the information; and individuals seeking broad strategies for managing personal finances.

Be sure to check out the java based "map of the market". WOW!

MONEY CHASE - SmartMoney.com

<><><><><><><><><><><><>

My first job after graduating college was as a broker on Wall Street. It only lasted for a few years as the call of the 60's, long hair and San Francisco won out. I also got tired of acting like I knew the answer to the question, "What is the market going to do?"

After I began sharing my standard answer with clients, "It will go up or down, and tomorrow there will be a good reason for it in the paper", management decided I was better suited for a less forthcoming vocation.<g>

If I had only known about this!
