Virtual Auto Show <><><><><><><><><><> The North American International Auto Show site, created by MSN CarPoint, provides comprehensive coverage of what is generally considered to be a "mega-auto event". Take a virtual walk through the showroom floor, view over 50 video streamed highlights, witness the unveiling of over 60 new cars and get a close up look at the action through one of the many live webcams. Be sure to check out the "Dazzling Concept Cars". If it takes a long time for your computer to boot up and you are frustrated by not being able to remove programs which have installed themselves in your start up sequence, check out this award winning freeware. Not everyone realizes just how many places there are to hide for programs that run at startup in Windows 9x and NT 4. The Startup folder in your Start Menu is the most obvious of these places; for the others, you have to roll up your sleeves and go into the registry. Startup Manager takes care of all this for you, even allowing you to disable these programs so that they can later be restored. Charlotte Street is a GREAT site with one of the coolest user interfaces I have seen. While it is geared towards UK women, its content provides a little something for everyone. The site is updated every day to bring you the latest news, advice and inspiration. Subjects covered include pregnancy and babies, health, education, fitness, fashion and beauty, careers, personal finance, food, home and garden, weddings, travel and going out. Women's World - Charlotte Street (flash plug-in required) The National Gallery of Art houses one of the world's finest collections in mediums such as painting, sculpture and graphic arts from the Middle Ages to the present. Search the database by artist, subject or accession number or take a virtual tour of the collection by medium. Many generations have enjoyed the various iterations of the Saturday morning cartoon experience. This site is geared towards those readers who were at their cartoon viewing prime in the '80s. Relive the memories from such shows as Mister T, Pac Man, The Gary Coleman Show, Robotech, Fat Albert, the Smurfs, and Thundarr the Barbarian. Saturday Morning Sanctuary - '80s Cartoon Alliance If you're interested in following the presidential elections and finding out where the candidates stand on the key issues, you will want to bookmark Public Agenda Online. They are a nonpartisan, nonprofit public opinion research organization founded in 1975 by former Secretary of State Cyrus Vance. The aim of the site is to assist leaders to "better understand the public's point of view on major policy issues"and by the same token, educate citizens to better understand critical policy issues. Public Agenda includes poles on topics such as abortion, the economy, crime, health care, race and social security. Public Opinion and Policy Analysis - Public Agenda I have always wanted to visit the Mayan Ruins of Central America. This site offers a virtual tour of this mysterious civilization from the perspective of the architects who built it. Learn about the concerns that went into designing each structure: proper astrological alignment, balancing ceremonial spaces with ritual and political theatre. A fascinating site! SUBSCRIBERS' SITES - Many of our subscribers have fascinating on-line projects. This weekly section will introduce you to some of these sites.
