This site offers a new way to tape TV shows and does most everything your VCR can currently do including rewind, replay, pause and fast forward. It uses the "RealPlayer" (free) streaming technology to play back your selections. The possibilities are endless.

If you're at the office and remember there is a show you want to watch, simply go to the site and record it and watch it when you get home. For Sunday sport fans, instead of flipping back and forth between 2 or 3 games, just watch one and use RecordTV.com to record the rest. Try doing that on your VCR!

Technocopia, is a consumer-oriented site covering the emerging "digital household infrastructure," with information on smart homes, home networks, smart toys and pet tech. The site is rich in content and examines the interplay of technology in your home, work, play, life, and future.

It was created by Hillary Rettig, a technology commentator and writer whose articles have appeared in Wired, Working Woman, PC Magazine, Windows, and Home Office Computing. This site is a bookmark special!

Virtual Lab is a great place to conduct scientific experiments in fields including thermodynamics, mechanics, energy and environment. The site uses JAVA applets to allow for some fascinating experiments including calculating your electric energy bill and viewing the energy level diagram of an atom.

Our favorite experiment was in the "Energy and Environment" field and examines a fictional community called Salmonville, which relies on hydroelectric power. The goal is to supply more electric power to the growing town while balancing the relation between population growth, energy consumption and fish decimation.

Soda Constructor is a hybrid of a video game and an erector set. It is one of the most charming, engaging, and just plain fun sites on the Net. It features a Java-enabled Web tool that "animates and edits two dimensional models made out of masses and springs."

The fun is that is that you can play around with these moving models by changing the gravity, friction and spring strength. If you get tired of the pre-built models, you can construct ones of your own. This is a COOL site for people of all ages.

Many of us will spend more years caring for our parents than we did raising our children. Care giving can be complicated, and finding resources for making decisions is not an easy task.

The Caregiver Zone was created by a team of senior care professionals and noted experts, and unites people across the country that share care giving questions, fears, needs, and triumphs. It is a comprehensive resource for family caregivers, elder care professionals, and seniors.

If you can find anything goofier on the net than the Twinkies Project, I'd like to know about it. In 1995, students at Rice University, set out to determine if Twinkies really were science's perfect food. T.W.I.N.K.I.E.S. stands for "Tests With Inorganic Noxious Kakes In Extreme Situations".

In the tests, they set a Twinkie on fire, microwaved one to death, electrocuted another, dropped one from a six story building, soaked them in water for 48 hours, and recorded the data. The results, as you may have guessed, hold that Twinkies are among the marvels of science.

Many of us commonly download mp3 music tracks and play them on our computers or portable players. MP3lit.com features spoken word recordings from many of your favorite authors.

I found it fascinating listening to Anaïs Nin recounting conversations with Henry while reading from her diary. Check out the "LoudMouth" section where you can post your own spoken word recordings or listen to the works of your fellow MP3Literati.
