If you're an independent movie fan, you'll enjoy Ifilm.com. It showcases up and coming filmmakers and features a great selection of cutting-edge short films. The site allows access to shorts, documentaries and features being shown at film festivals across the country, as well as to vibrant new work from film students.

Their news section is geared towards the movie going public and contains reviews, features, profiles and box office news, while Filmmaker Focus includes practical information covering all facets of filmmaking. They currently have a great piece on Sofia Coppola's latest film and how she's trying to shake the Coppola name.

If you're a nature lover you'll appreciate this comprehensive site with its searchable database for identifying more than 4,800 plant and animal species of North America. It is billed as the net's first nature and wildlife portal.

It also contains the Audubon guides to plants and animals, an outdoor planner and destination guide, a habitat guide, eCards, newsletters, live web cams, discussion forums, an ask-the-expert section, and over 4,000 color photographs.

Ghost stories exist in most cultures and range from folk tales, to religious works, to modern horror stories. Their roots in Southern culture and folklore run deep and haunt the moonlit back roads of the American South.

Each month, The Moonlit Road brings you ghost stories and strange folk tales, told by the region's best storytellers. I especially enjoyed being able to listen to the storyteller telling his tale. I had not had a ghost story read to me in a long time.

The Adventure Divas describe themselves as an estrogen-charged, virtual Elks club and feature low-budget travel advice for independently minded women. In their current trip to Cuba they meet an activist, an ex-Black Panther in exile and a Santeria priestess whose talent on the sacred drums has made her a troublemaker/heroine.

The site is loaded with travel tips, journal entries, packing suggestions, interview transcripts, and more. Future adventures include excursions to Turkey, Eritrea and Australia.

"Earth From Above" is sponsored by Fuji Film and features the aerial imagery of the acclaimed photographer, Yann Arthus-Bertrand. The site offers breathtaking photos of deserts, polar lands, coastal regions and cosmopolitan cities.

Our favorite is the motion graphics section, which shows fading snapshots of mountains and jungles, and follows the trail of mankind's footprints across the planet. For quick orientation, visit the Photo Index which contains snapshots of the entire site's contents.

I usually avoid featuring e-commerce sites, but it was really easy to make an exception for Buy-a-Rock. It combines a great design with entertaining and informative content and succeeds in totally demystifying the intimidating process of buying a diamond.

Thinking of popping THE question? The site offers thoughts on finding out what she likes, suggestions for proposals, ideas on how to set up a romantic weekend and ways to surprise her. If she says no, they offer a full refund within 30 days, no questions asked.

Will you marry me?
